Astral Shores
Astral Shores is a reflection of my journey to connect with the deeper, more expansive elements of life. Growing up, I found safety and comfort in nature, and as I moved away from a rigid religious upbringing, the ocean became one of my most sacred spaces. It’s a place of healing and grounding for me, a constant reminder of my roots and heritage. But more than that, the ocean—much like space—has a vastness that both humbles and empowers me.
With Astral Shores, I sought to capture the parallels between the depths of the ocean and the vastness of space. Both realms are mysterious and infinite, places where one can lose themselves but also find clarity and peace. This piece features crystallized starfish and seashells, suspended in a swirling cosmic scene that pulls the viewer between the earthly and the celestial. The textures, created through plaster, sand, and resin, provide a tangible connection to both the grounded and the ethereal. The stars in the sky and creatures of the sea remind me of how connected we are to everything, no matter how distant or unattainable it may seem.
I created Astral Shores with the hope that viewers will feel the deep peace I experienced during its creation. I want this painting to remind people that even in the vastness of life—whether it's the endless sea or the uncharted universe—there's a space of calm and clarity waiting to be discovered. Like many of my works, this piece is about more than just what’s seen on the canvas; it’s about the feelings it evokes. I hope it brings a sense of tranquility, wonder, and connection to those who encounter it.
